'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Galbraith resumes battle with Manchester City.

Ethan Galbraith grins broadly as he recalls the dramatic closing stages of his team's stunning fightback victory against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup. The encounter ended with Galbraith picking up a fan's glasses following the post-goal scrum.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith struck the post with a powerful effort from outside the box, and Cameron Burgess quickly hammered in the rebound before sprinting toward the home end to mark the goal, with supporters swarming the players.

Stunning Reversal

This sealed an extraordinary turnaround given the team had been behind 2-0 midway through the latter period. In the delirium, there was some collateral damage. Galbraith explained, "There was a fan sort of calling out and Josh Key and I were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we spotted the glasses. It was a funny incident putting them on. We are on the pitch as footballers but we're humans, too, so to have a bit of craic with the fans is always good."

Premier League Giants

The victory secured a next round game at home against the Premier League champions on Wednesday, opponents Galbraith ran close at the same stage of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. The athletic midfielder had an excellent perspective when his former team took the lead in spectacular fashion, with the attacker's long-range effort from about way out going in via the woodwork and the City goalkeeper. Many argued that it was credited as an own goal.

"You would have expected they would've awarded it to him for attempting the shot from that range," commented Galbraith, who played in the middle before moving to right flank after the team changed formation. That meant getting to grips with Jack Grealish, with whom he swapped shirts, and the winger was among the opposition who paid tribute to the way Orient played positively.

City's Quality

"Athletically they are outstanding but even the simple things and basic skills, they can just execute repeatedly," the midfielder notes. "It seems as if they never miss a pass and they are adept at dictate and take the sting out of a game. You can feel you're holding your own and then abruptly they will just thread a ball between defenders without you even spotting it. You have to be alert at all times of the game. It demands a resilient mindset and concentration just to stay in the game."

Swansea Move

The Welsh side sought to acquire Galbraith in January and fought off rivals to bring him in in the summer in a seven-figure transfer. He established himself as a fans' favourite across a couple of years at his former club and has quickly replicated that in his new home. At Orient he reunited with his former manager, who previously gave Galbraith his debut prolonged spell in senior football on loan at his loan club from Old Trafford. Then came a loan at League Two the Manchester club, before he moved on from Old Trafford.

Learning Curve

"I was perhaps a slightly green going into senior level. I think many athletes would say development squad matches is completely distinct. Sometimes it feels like play is circulated without much intensity. You see few tackles or duels. Once you start playing men's games you have to adjust fast."

National Team Success

He has shown that development for club and country, excelling for his national side, who remain in contention for the international competition next summer via the playoffs and for whom he has started the last several matches, including home and away fixtures against Germany. The ex-coach, Galbraith's previous international manager, gave him the highest praise, saying he was Northern Ireland's "midfield general" given how he manipulates the ball and his ability to spot a killer pass.

Early Days

This represents a remarkable path for the youngster from the Queens Park estate in the Belfast suburb, just outside the capital, who grew up watching his father, his father, also a engine room operator, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Manchester United Experience

His single match for Manchester United came in Central Asia in 2019, a Europa League trip to Astana, where they competed on an artificial pitch and the venue ceiling was sealed owing to the weather of bitter cold. "That proved to be a extended travel and it was freezing," he recalls, smiling. "The days leading up, the academy prospects trained together, so that assisted our preparation. Just to join the main group and get a couple of minutes at the end was incredible."

Moving On

How hard was it to leave United, the club he signed from his boyhood team aged 16? "This turned out quite easy, because I arrived at the moment where I knew I wouldn't break through at the top level. I'm hugely grateful for the experience gained but it became apparent where I believed I needed to go my own route, join a smaller club and play professional soccer. Now I'm steadily climbing the ladder."

Life in Swansea

It is the middle of the day at the club's training ground but Galbraith has an appointment at late afternoon: a driving theory test, another step towards getting on the road. Prior to relocating to his new neighborhood, the 24-year-old was a regular in Swansea's dubbed fun bus, a minibus driven by academy staff, Pete and Howard, which transports players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"I travel with the Portuguese player, Ronald, Malick Yalcouyé – a former passenger used to be in it but has got his license. It's nice to spend time with the lads but I'm aiming to be the following person to stop using the bus and driving. Franco enjoys practical jokes; he's frequently playing tricks."

Public Engagement

When he represented Leyton Orient, Galbraith would mix with followers on London's Central line after starting his journey at the area he lived in. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
